What we put on and inside our bodies, the things we
eat and wear say a great deal about ourselves, our culture and
our identity. 'Placing' ourselves in time and space is
also important in defining who we are. These are the building blocks of
'you-topias'.
You-topias was the starting point of the project in 2002 and a chance
to explore and celebrate cultures and idenities in the town. Click on

The Festival of Light and Renewal inaugurated our new large scale
outdoor projection system at Garrick
Street Transport Interchange in the centre of the town, click
here to see a powerpoint introduction to the Festival of Light
and Renewal. We asked participants - from schools and community
groups - to give us their interpretation of this theme. Their images
and messages were screened, beginning with Diwali
celebrations, through all the different new years to Easter.

We asked each participant (or group) to produce a single image and
a short text to express their ideas of 'Light & Renewal', whether
it be a personal vision or the celebration of a communal tradition.
This is a celebration of that diversity.
